About the role
Koda North is hiring a Junior to Mid-Level Software Engineer to help build, maintain, and improve reliable software systems, web applications, APIs, databases, and integrations. This role is a good fit for a developer who has strong engineering fundamentals, practical experience building real applications, and the ability to work carefully with product requirements, existing codebases, and technical guidance from senior engineers. We are looking for European candidates with strong English communication skills who can collaborate clearly with engineering teams, clients, and stakeholders. The ideal candidate is thoughtful, reliable, eager to improve, and able to write clean, maintainable code while growing into stronger ownership over time.
What you will do
- Build and maintain web applications, APIs, and software features
- Write clean, readable, and maintainable application code
- Work with backend services, frontend interfaces, databases, and integrations
- Implement features from product requirements and technical guidance
- Build and consume REST APIs and data-driven application workflows
- Fix bugs, troubleshoot issues, and improve existing functionality
- Write and maintain database queries and basic data models
- Test your work carefully before delivery
- Participate in code reviews and follow team development standards
- Collaborate with engineering, product, QA, and client-facing teams
- Communicate progress clearly and raise blockers early
- Support releases, fixes, and ongoing product improvements
What we are looking for
- 2+ years of professional software development experience
- Experience building web applications or business software
- Good understanding of software engineering fundamentals
- Experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Java, or similar programming languages
- Experience working with REST APIs and application data
- Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server
- Basic understanding of authentication, validation, error handling, and secure coding practices
- Ability to write clean, maintainable, and testable code
- Experience with Git, pull requests, and team-based development workflows
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
- Strong written and spoken English communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with remote European teams
- Reliable ownership of assigned tasks from clarification through delivery
Nice to have
- Experience with React, Vue, Angular, Next.js, or similar frontend frameworks
- Experience with Node.js, Django, FastAPI, Spring Boot, Express, or similar backend frameworks
- Experience building SaaS products, dashboards, portals, or internal business tools
- Experience with AWS, Docker, CI/CD, automated testing, or cloud deployments
- Experience with background jobs, queues, automation, or third-party integrations
- Experience improving legacy systems, refactoring code, or fixing production issues
